You may already have seen TinyURL in action if you are a twitter user—it is the format that twitter uses to link to your blog updates which it receives through RSS when an update is made.

You never need send, post or email a long URL again. Simply visit TinyURL, enter the URL you wish to reduce & voila—you are presented with a nice, neat, tidy little URL which you take away with you. There is also an option to customise this new, condensed URL—providing no one else has had the URL before you.
